Project Description

Client: Whites
Location:  Middleton, ID
Year Completed:  2023

This partial kitchen remodel focused on updating the island while enhancing the overall design by introducing complementary elements. The existing island was replaced with custom paint-grade cabinets that were carefully chosen to complement the surrounding stained-grade wall cabinets. This thoughtful selection created a balanced contrast, adding visual interest to the kitchen.

To further tie the design together, an accent band was installed on the custom hood, matching the new paint-grade island. This subtle yet effective detail helped unify the space, blending the new and existing elements into a cohesive look. The result was a refreshed kitchen that seamlessly integrated the new island into the established design, enhancing both its style and functionality.

The Challenges

The partial kitchen remodel presented a unique set of challenges, primarily focused on ensuring that the work was completed efficiently to return the kitchen to full functionality for the homeowners as quickly as possible. Additionally, great care had to be taken to avoid damaging the custom wood floors during the installation of the new paint-grade island and the accent band on the custom hood. Protecting the existing flooring while integrating the new elements required meticulous planning and careful handling of materials. Despite these challenges, the project was successfully completed, resulting in a beautifully updated kitchen that maintained the integrity of the original design and flooring.
