This small kitchen remodel showcased the beauty and craftsmanship of custom glazed rustic hickory cabinets, designed to bring warmth and character to the space. The cabinets were carefully crafted with a rich glaze that highlighted the natural wood grain, adding a touch of rustic elegance to the kitchen.
One of the standout features was the upper cabinets, which were finished with a detailed bottom and light rail, providing a polished look while also allowing for under-cabinet lighting. This design element not only enhanced the kitchen’s aesthetic but also improved functionality by brightening the workspace.
Additionally, a unique counter top cabinet was installed with dual access from both the front and back. This innovative feature maximized storage and accessibility, making the most of the small space. The combination of these custom elements resulted in a kitchen that was both visually striking and exceptionally practical, perfectly tailored to the homeowner’s needs.
The Challenges
The small kitchen remodel featuring custom glazed rustic hickory cabinets came with several unique challenges. One of the primary difficulties was the installation of the finished veneer on the bottom of the upper cabinets. This required precision to ensure a seamless and polished appearance, especially with the addition of the light rail for under-cabinet lighting. The detailed work demanded careful attention to detail to maintain both aesthetic and functional quality.
Another significant challenge was fabricating the tall countertop cabinet with dual access from both the front and back. Designing and constructing this cabinet required meticulous planning to ensure it provided easy access while maintaining structural integrity. Balancing these complex requirements within the constraints of a small kitchen was no easy task, but the end result was a beautifully crafted space that combined rustic charm with innovative functionality.
