Project Description
Client: Chop Shop
Location: Caldwell, ID
Year Completed: 2021
In the heart of downtown Caldwell, Idaho, a smokehouse has been elevated with the addition of a striking liquor cabinet, designed to echo the smoky essence of its culinary offerings. Crafted from hickory, the cabinet underwent a unique flame-burning process, which not only deepened the wood’s rich hues but also imparted a textured, charred finish that mirrors the restaurant’s focus on smoked meats. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that serves as both a functional bar and a statement of rustic sophistication, perfectly aligning with the restaurant’s ambiance.
The Challenges
Crafting the flame-burnt hickory liquor cabinet for the smokehouse restaurant in downtown Caldwell presented several challenges. The cabinet needed to be more than just aesthetically pleasing; it had to be exceptionally durable to support the substantial weight of an extensive collection of expensive liquor bottles. To ensure stability, the cabinet was reinforced with heavy-duty materials and carefully designed to distribute weight evenly, preventing any risk of warping or sagging over time.
Additionally, security was a top priority. The cabinet was outfitted with a custom locking mechanism, providing a secure storage solution that protects the valuable inventory while still offering easy access for the restaurant staff. Balancing these practical needs with the desired rustic, flame-burnt aesthetic required meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a cabinet that is as functional as it is visually impressive.
